A guitar concert by Jonathan Crissman
was presented at our church on Sunday, January 27 at
3:00 p.m.
Light reception followed.
Crissman, who has a bachelor degree in
musical studies from
Houghton
College, performed
classical, religious and contemporary works arranged for the guitar. He
is currently completing a degree in music therapy from
Slippery
Rock
University and is an intern
at the Hochstein School of Music in
Rochester,
NY.

The Canisius
College Chorale,
under the direction of Frank Scinta, inaugurated its 2007
Sacred Spaces concert series with a program in Most Precious
Blood Church on
Sunday, March 25th at 7:30 PM,
located at 22 Prospect Street in Angola, NY. Admission to all
events in the Sacred Spaces series is free. A light reception in the school cafeteria to
follow.
"Sacred Spaces"
stems from the acoustically resonant environments of the sanctuaries in
our area's churches.
The Canisius College Chorale
remains one of Western New York’s most active collegiate music
ensembles, composed of one hundred undergraduate and graduate members.
In recent years, the Chorale
has performed with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ars Nova
Chamber Musicians, the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus, and the Dave Brubeck
Quartet.
In addition, the Chorale has
made appearances at Toronto’s St. John Latvian Lutheran Church and Holy
Rosary Church. The Chorale will release its third CD recording in April,
2007.

Featuring two accomplished soloists George
Miller and Emily Helenbrook.
George Miller is a lay missionary Christian and
Gospel soloist residing in WNY, who uses his gift of singing to help the
needy children in poor countries around the world.
Emily Helenbrook is one of the the
youngest students at Eastman School of Music voice program, where she
studies under Patricia Alexander, who is the mother of the world
renowned opera singer Renee Fleming. The concert is free and open to

Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006 at 3:00 p.m.
On Sunday, December 17, 2006 at 3:00
p.m., Most Precious Blood Parish, 22 Prospect St., Angola, NY 14006,
hosted “The Gift of Christmas” concert featuring the beautiful and
talented soprano soloist Brittany
Mruczek singing traditional Christmas hymns in English, Polish,
Italian and Latin. This special 2nd annual concert included
musical accompaniment and narration, reflecting the significance on the
birth of Jesus Christ.
Brittany who is making her second
appearance in the Christmas concert series is a seventeen year old
senior at Notre Dame High School in Batavia where she is a member of the
National Honors Society. She has received numerous High School awards
along with being recognized by the General Pulaski Association as an
outstanding young Polish American and named Citizen of the Year by the
Am-Pol Eagle in 2005 in the category of Art and Drama.
In 2003, Brittany was crowned Teen
Miss Buffalo and in October 2005 she was crowned Miss Western New York
Outstanding Teen through the Miss America Pageant system. Brittany has
participated in many singing venues, concerts, recitals, and voice
competitions. She has been taking voice lessons since the fourth grade
and is currently studying voice with Patricia Alexander at the Eastman
School of Music for the last five years and has received the Clase Vocal
Scholarship in honor of Rene Fleming for the past two years.
Accompanying Brittany Mruczek was
Steven Kroczynski and Michael Gmyrek, members of the group “The New
Horizons”. Narration was conducted by George Miecyjak.

A concert took place

Most Parish Blood Parish on ,
July 1, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. at the church.
Eric Kemnitzer, a senior at SUNY Fredonia and a resident of Derby,
performed piano works by Bach, Haydn, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy and
Bartok. He was joined by Victoria Tomasulo, a student vocalist at
Frontier Central High School, for a song tribute to the USA in a
patriotic segment of the concert.
For the past three years, Eric has taught privately with his own studio
of 35 students. He is pursuing a Music Ed. degree and plans to
teach elementary music in the future.
Eric also performs locally with Classic Jam, a four piece blues
band.

Emily Tworek Helenbrook
is the youngest student at Eastman School of Music voice program, where
she studies under Patricia Alexander, who is the mother of the world
renowned opera singer Renee Fleming. Emily was accompanied on
viola by her grandfather, Matthew Tworek.

Palm Sunday, April 9, 2006, at 7:00 p. m.
A sacred concert was
hosted on
Palm Sunday, April 9, at 7:00 p. m. in the
church. The concert features the Bell and Church choirs of the First
Congregational UCC of Angola and the A Cappella choir of St.
Stephan’s Serbian Orthodox Church, Lackawanna. Everyone is
invited.
Admission is free.
Free Will Offering to
partially benefit Lakeshore Association of Christian Churches.

Sunday, March 26, 2006 - 7:00 p.m.
A concert featuring piano and vocal solos took place
Sunday, March 26, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Jason Baer, a
graduate of SUNY Fredonia, offered a program of piano pieces that
included compositions of Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Mozart, Brahms and
Bartok. He accompanied vocalist Molly Mertle in several works
including Bach-Gounod’s
Ave Maria.
At Fredonia, Baer earned a bachelor of science degree in Sound Recording
Technology along with a bachelor of music in Music Composition. He
has accompanied various choirs, soloists and chamber ensembles
throughout his school and college careers. He is Musical Director
of the Tri-Parish Community of churches in the Langford area.
Recently he and Molly Mertle opened “Main Street Music,” a small music
store and lesson center in North Collins where he has a piano studio of
over 30 students.
Tickets for
this program were on sale at the church on the weekend or at the rectory
(549-0420) throughout the week. Pre-sale tickets were $5.00 and
those at the door the evening of the performance are $7.00. A
reception in the school hall followed the performance.

A classical
concert for Operation Good Neighbor will take place at Most Precious
Blood Church, Angola, Thursday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m. The concert,
Autumn Interlude, will
feature
Cristina Scaglione-Voto, piano, and Maria Scaglione-Szczepanik,
soprano.
They will perform works of Handel, Schumann, Puccini, Chopin,
Bach-Gounod, Gershwin, Steven Schwartz, Jason Robert Brown and Jerome
Kern.
Cristina and Maria are former organists at Most Precious Blood Church
who pursued musical careers following their graduation from Lake
Shore Central High School. Cristina attended the Hartt School of Music
and the University of Hartford where she received a BA degree in Piano
Accompaniment and a BA in Spanish. She continued her studies at the
University of Massachusetts earning a masters degree in Education.
She has been a member of the music faculty at Frontier Central High
School for the past twelve years, specializing in string instruction,
conducting the orchestra and teaching Advanced Placement Theory.
Recently she was appointed Chairperson of the Frontier Music
Department. Currently she is music director and organist at St. Mary
of the Lake Catholic Church in Hamburg. She resides in Lake View with
her husband, James, and their daughters, Emily and Patrice.
Maria
graduated from Ithaca College with a BA in Music, Voice
Concentration. She later earned a masters degree in Music Education
from SUNY Fredonia. In addition to providing vocal training to private
students, Maria taught music for a short time at MPB School before
being employed in the Orchard Park School District. After six years
at the Orchard Park Middle School she transferred to the High School
where, for the past four years, she has been an instructor of voice
and conductor of various choruses. She also teaches voice at SUNY at
Buffalo. During the past twelve years, she has performed in many
musical productions with MusicalFare, Kavinoky and other Buffalo based
theater groups. Recently, Maria was married to Mark Szczepanik. The
couple lives in Orchard Park
