A concert took place at Most Parish Blood Parish on , July 1, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. at the church. 

      Eric Kemnitzer, a senior at SUNY Fredonia and a resident of Derby, performed piano works by Bach, Haydn, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy and Bartok.  He was joined by Victoria Tomasulo, a student vocalist at Frontier Central High School, for a song tribute to the USA in a patriotic segment of the concert. 

      For the past three years, Eric has taught privately with his own studio of 35 students.  He is pursuing a Music Ed. degree and plans to teach elementary music in the future. 

      Eric also performs locally with Classic Jam, a four piece blues band.

Sunday, May 21, 2006, at 7:00 p.m.

A concert took place at Most Precious Blood Church, 22 Prospect St. in Angola, on Sunday, May 21, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. Emily Tworek Helenbrook is the youngest student at Eastman School of Music voice program, where she studies under Patricia Alexander, who is the mother of the world renowned opera singer Renee Fleming.  Emily was accompanied on viola by her grandfather, Matthew Tworek. 

Palm Sunday, April 9, 2006, at 7:00 p. m.

 A sacred concert was hosted on Palm Sunday, April 9, at 7:00 p. m. in the church. The concert features the Bell and Church choirs of the First Congregational UCC of Angola and the A Cappella choir of St. Stephan’s Serbian Orthodox Church, Lackawanna.  Everyone is invited.  Admission is free.  Free Will Offering to partially benefit Lakeshore Association of Christian Churches. 

Sunday, March 26, 2006  - 7:00 p.m.

A concert featuring piano and vocal solos took place Sunday, March 26, beginning at 7:00 p.m.    Jason Baer, a graduate of SUNY Fredonia, offered a program of piano pieces that included compositions of Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy, Mozart, Brahms and Bartok.  He accompanied vocalist Molly Mertle in several works including Bach-Gounod’s Ave Maria. 

      At Fredonia, Baer earned a bachelor of science degree in Sound Recording Technology along with a bachelor of music in Music Composition.  He has accompanied various choirs, soloists and chamber ensembles throughout his school and college careers.  He is Musical Director of the Tri-Parish Community of churches in the Langford area.  Recently he and Molly Mertle opened “Main Street Music,” a small music store and lesson center in North Collins where he has a piano studio of over 30 students.

       Tickets for this program were on sale at the church on the weekend or at the rectory (549-0420) throughout the week.  Pre-sale tickets were $5.00 and those at the door the evening of the performance are $7.00.  A reception in the school hall followed the performance.

A classical concert for Operation Good Neighbor will take place at Most Precious Blood Church, Angola, Thursday, October 13 at 7:00 p.m.  The concert, Autumn Interlude, will feature Cristina Scaglione-Voto, piano, and Maria Scaglione-Szczepanik, soprano.  They will perform works of Handel, Schumann, Puccini, Chopin, Bach-Gounod, Gershwin, Steven Schwartz, Jason Robert Brown and Jerome Kern.

 

    Cristina  and Maria are former organists at Most Precious Blood Church who pursued  musical careers following their graduation from Lake Shore Central High School. Cristina attended the Hartt School of Music and the University of Hartford where she received a BA degree in Piano Accompaniment and a BA in Spanish.  She continued her studies at the University of Massachusetts earning a masters degree in Education.  She has been a member of the music faculty at Frontier Central High School for the past twelve years, specializing in string instruction, conducting the orchestra and teaching Advanced Placement Theory.  Recently she was appointed Chairperson of the Frontier Music Department.  Currently she is music director and organist at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Hamburg.  She resides in Lake View with her husband, James, and their daughters, Emily and Patrice.

 

    Maria graduated from Ithaca College with a BA in Music, Voice Concentration.  She later earned a masters degree in Music Education from SUNY Fredonia. In addition to providing vocal training to private students, Maria taught music for a short time at MPB School before being employed in the Orchard Park School District.  After six years at the Orchard Park Middle School she transferred to the High School where, for the past four years, she has been an instructor of voice and conductor of various choruses. She also teaches voice at SUNY at Buffalo.  During the past twelve years, she has performed in many musical productions with MusicalFare, Kavinoky and other Buffalo based theater groups.  Recently, Maria was married to Mark Szczepanik.  The couple lives in Orchard Park
